When planning this trip, we decided that it was smart to fly in the night before the first bike day, and stay at an airport hotel near by Brussels Airport. We chose this to make sure that we have good time to assemble our bikes out of the bike box – and get a good nights sleep and breakfast before our first big day – crossing Belgium from Brussels to Blankenberge through Ghent and Brugge.
In terms of prepping – we put togheter a five day trip plan with routes that was made with help of google maps. All routes will be posted on this blog in the following days😊 To make sure that navigation got easier, all routes were loaded onto a Garmin Edge – and we found out that it worked our brilliantly.
We both decided to use two bikepacks – one bigger on the seat post and either one frame bag or a small bar bag. We found out that the saddle bag got quite heavy and gave a “waggeling” effect on the ride.
And a last final remark – we did only bring a small pump – this lead to a maxmimum of 2 bar is in each tire. Taking into account that our bikes got at least 10 kilo heavier – this would lead to problems later…
